Romare Bearden is an artist whose stirring depictions and use of color awakens a vitality and resolve within me. Within his work, I am transported instantly to a mood: somber, sensual, communal, ancestral. I find Bearden to be a master of aesthetics. To "read" his work is to experience the world through his artistic portal and to be forever changed by it.
